The franchise has had several opportunities but has come up short on all four occasions. Buffalo became the only team to make four straight Super Bowls and lose all four consecutively. Perhaps the team is one step closer to finally bringing home the Lombardi Trophy to Western New York after many years of patiently waiting.
Super Bowl XXV vs. Giants
The Buffalo Bills first appeared in the Super Bowl in January 1991, after the 1990 NFL season. They lost to the New York Giants 20-19 due to a game-winning field goal by New York’s Matt Bahr at Tampa Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
Super Bowl XXVI vs. Redskins
Buffalo looked for redemption a year later, in January 1992, following the 1991 NFL season. Once again, the Bills would come up short in a 37-24 loss against the Washington Redskins at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Super Bowl XXVII vs. Cowboys
The Bills would face defeat again in January 1993, after the 1992 NFL season. Troy Aikman and the Cowboys beat Buffalo 52-17 at Rose Bowl Stadium, Pasadena, California.
Super Bowl XXVIII vs. Cowboys
Hopes of winning their first Super Bowl would once again come to an end in January 1994, following the 1993 NFL season. The Troy Aikman-led Cowboys would steamroll Buffalo again in a 30-13 defeat at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia.
