Michael Davis Contract: Salary, Cap Hit, Potential Extension

Michael Davis started just two out of the first seven games of the NFL season. Once J.C. Jackson was injured, Davis took his chance to impress. He had a stellar year, registering a career-high 12 pass breakups and allowing only 446 yards in coverage.

He led the NFL in passes defended from Week 9 through the end of the regular season and clearly bounced back from his 2021 slump.

Michael Davis Salary

The 28-year-old signed a three-year $25,200,000 contract with the Chargers in March 2021. It included a $6,000,000 signing bonus, $15,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $8,400,000. 

In 2023, Davis will earn a base salary of $6,000,000 and a roster bonus of $1,000,000. He also has appearance incentives written into his contract.

Davis’s contract will carry a cap hit of $9,400,000 and a dead cap value of $3,000,000.

Michael Davis Potential Extension

Davis is expected to have a more significant role with the team in 2023 and is slated to be one of the starting cornerbacks on opening day. 

Davis knows he has a big year ahead of him if he wants to secure a significant contract. His teammate J.C. Jackson is signed to an $82,000,000 contract, and with Davis’s play, it is not out of the question for him to demand at least $60,000,000. He is already one of the top 25 paid players in his position.
