The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have the NFL record for consecutive losing seasons. They finished below .500 for 14 straight years from 1983-96.

Here are the top streaks for losing seasons:

  • New Orleans Saints (12 seasons): 1967-1978
  • Cleveland Browns (12 seasons): 2008-2019
  • Detroit Lions (10 seasons): 2001-2010
  • Denver Broncos (10 seasons): 1963-1972
  • Philadelphia Eagles (10 seasons): 1933-1942

The New York Jets currently boast the longest streak of consecutive losing seasons among active teams. The franchise has finished below .500 during their last eight seasons (2016-2023).
