Geno Smith was drafted by the New York Jets in 2013, with the 39th overall pick.

The 2013 crop of college quarterbacks was infamously weak, with only one quarterback selected in the first round. That was EJ Manuel, from Florida State, who was selected by Buffalo. He saw limited playing time and was not extended for a fifth year.

Smith was rumored to be a prospect that several teams may target in the latter part of the first round, but the night came and went without Smith hearing his name called.

Finally, he was selected early on Day 2 by the Jets.ย

Prior to his professional career, Smith was a three-year starter at West Virginia. He threw for 11,662 yards and 98 touchdowns in Morgantown.
