  • The RBC Canadian Open is June 8-11 from Oakdale Golf & Country Club.
  • First-round leader bets are a nice way to make a quick profit.

The RBC Canadian Open will begin Thursday, June 8 from Oakdale Golf & Country Club in Toronto.

Even though itโ€™s not a designated event, and itโ€™s the week before the U.S. Open, some solid players are still in the field, including defending champion Rory McIlroy, who has +450 odds to win.

This is the first time Oakdale Golf & Country Club has hosted the event, so there isnโ€™t much data to go on when it comes to course history, and itโ€™s hard to know what to fully expect.

It is a par-72 and is listed at 7,264 yards. Low scores are expected, given the number of short par-4s and reachable par-5s.

Who could post the best score in Thursdayโ€™s first round? Below are my first-round leader bets for the week.

RBC Canadian Open: First-Round Leader (FRL) Bets

Rory McIlroy +1200 First-Round Leader

This is purely based on value. McIlroy is +450 to win the entire tournament, but +1200 to be the leader after the first round. As the best player in the field, it wouldnโ€™t surprise anyone if he led after the first round.

McIlroy hasnโ€™t performed well in first rounds overall this year, but as the two-time defending champion at this event, he should have some good vibes.

Tommy Fleetwood +4300 First-Round Leader

Fleetwood quietly has played some solid golf this year, posting three top-10s and six top-25s, including a T-18 at the PGA Championship.

In a tournament with a weaker field than most weeks, this could be the time for Fleetwood to shine even more.

Akshay Bhatia +8000 First-Round Leader

Bhatia is just 21 years old, but has a ton of talent and the ability to go low every time he tees it up. This year on the PGA Tour, he has rounds of 63, 65 (twice), and 66.

While he may not have the consistency to play four consistent rounds, taking a shot at him for one good one in the first round is worth it.
