- The 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions had a purse of $15 million.
- Jon Rahm's winner's share was $2.7 million.
- Rahm mounted a massive comeback to overtake Collin Morikawa.
The first-ever designated event on the PGA Tour took place Jan. 5-8, 2023, with the Sentry Tournament of Champions at the Plantation Course in Kapalua, Hawaii.
It was a limited field event, with only winners from the 2022 calendar year and those who qualified for the 2022 Tour Championship being invited.
The Plantation Course yielded plenty of birdies once again, which made for a crazy final round.
Jon Rahm trailed Collin Morikawa by nine shots after an opening hole bogey, but Rahm’s 10-under 63 was enough to overtake Morikawa and win by two shots.
Rahm finished at -27, while Morikawa was -25 after a final round 72.
The purse was $15 million, up from $8.2 million a year ago. This is all part of the increased prize money on the PGA Tour.
