The PGA Championship playoff format is a three-hole aggregate. This is unlike most PGA Tour events, where it’s a sudden-death single-hole.

This means players would play three holes, and the lowest total score would be the winner.

At Quail Hollow for 2025, the three-hole aggregate playoff would be played on the 16th, 17th and 18th holes. If it is tied after that, it will be sudden death on those three holes.

PGA Championship Playoff History

There have been 13 playoffs in PGA Championship history, including five using the current three-hole aggregate format.
