Top 10 womenโ€™s strawweight contenders Mackenzie Dern and Amanda Ribas will be the curtain-opener of the UFC this 2025, as they will headline the first fight night card on Jan. 11 inside the APEX Center in Las Vegas.

This will be a rematch between the two athletes, as Ribas scored a unanimous decision win over Dern during their first meeting in October 2019 with a unanimous decision nod from the judges.

Because of this result, Ribas heads into the match as the betting favorite with -210 UFC odds despite dropping her previous match against Rose Namajunas in March. Meanwhile, Dern is the +175 betting underdog in this upcoming showdown.

Mackenzie Dern vs. Amanda Ribas 2 Odds

  • Mackenzie Dern: +175
  • Amanda Ribas: -210

Mackenzie Dern vs. Amanda Ribas 2: Prediction

I predict Ribas will reassert her mastery over Dern and secure a unanimous decision victory because the stylistic matchup is in her favor. Like in their first meeting, Ribas will utilize her 3-inch reach advantage with land jabs and punches.

Additionally, Ribas has a solid takedown defense with her judo background. This will again utilize the threat of Dernโ€™s superior grappling skills, particularly her Brazilian jiu-jitsu background.

During their first meeting, Ribas displayed strong grappling skills by countering Dernโ€™s takedown attempt with a side throw to end up in the top position. On the feet, Ribas was able to fully utilize every inch of her advantage to light up Dern with punches.

Since their first bout, both athletes have been very active in competition, and their level of opponents was at par with each other by fighting other top contenders in the 115-pound weight class.

However, the fighting style is just in favor of Ribas because she has an answer to Dernโ€™s BJJ expertise. Add the fact that Ribas uses the entire length of her reach in striking exchanges, then it will be another masterful performance for her.

Several of Dernโ€™s most notable wins were against Randa Markos, Virna Jandiroba, Nina Nunes, Tecia Pennington, and Angela Hill. Her defeats were courtesy of Ribas, Marina Rodriguez, Yan Xiaonan, Jรฉssica Andrade, and Amanda Lemos.
