The main event of UFC Fight Night: Fiziev vs. Gamrot this past Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, inside the APEX Center in Las Vegas was expected to be an all-out war between top lightweight contenders Rafael Fiziev (12-3) and Mateusz Gamrot (23-2), however, an injury to Fiziev’s left knee in the second round ended the fight in a TKO victory for Gamrot.

Because of the win, the “Gamer’s” UFC odds of claiming a title shot have inched closer as he is expected to move up in the rankings from his seventh-place position before the fight. Gamrot is primed to face a top-five-ranked contender in the lightweight division, while Fiziev will be sidelined for some time as he recovers from his injury.
Despite the unfortunate ending to the night’s main attraction, four fighters stood out in the event and put up an incredible performance to secure an additional $50,000 bonus. Top women’s strawweight contender Marina Rodriguez and featherweight fighter Charles Jourdain bagged the Performance of the Night honors after stopping Michelle Waterson-Gomez and Ricardo Ramos in their respective fights.

Meanwhile, the welterweight battle between Tim Means and Andre Fialho received the Fight of the Night award after an entertaining scrap which saw Means finish Fialho in the third and final round.
