  • The heavyweight rematch between Marcin Tybura and Serghei Spivac headlines the UFC Fight Night inside the Apex Center in Las Vegas.
  • Tybura is coming off a win from his previous fight, while Spivac is fresh off a loss.
  • Tybura is the +120 betting underdog, and Spivac is the betting favorite at -140.

Two ranked heavyweight contenders will collide this weekend inside the APEX Center in Las Vegas. The No. 8-ranked contender Marcin Tybura and No. 9-ranked challenger Serghei Spivac will headline the cardโ€™s main event to determine who will move up in the divisionโ€™s rankings.

Both have contrasting results from their previous fights, with Tybura winning and Spivac dropping his bout. However, Tybura is still the +120 betting underdog heading into the match, while Spivac is the -140 UFC odds favorite to come out on top. The biggest factor for their roles in online sports betting is likely their age gap of nine years.

Marcin Tybura Recent Fight Results

Tybura is an eight-year UFC veteran who amassed a promotional record of 12 wins and seven losses since his octagon debut in April 2016. Several notable wins were against Luis Henrique, Andrei Arlovski, Ben Rothwell, Greg Hardy, Walt Harris, and Spivac (during their first meeting in March 2020).

In his last five fights, Tybura won three and dropped the other two. During this stretch, he won against Alexander Romanov and Blagoy Ivanov and absorbed losses from Alexander Volkov and Tom Aspinall. The Polish MMA starโ€™s most recent result was a first-round submission win over Tai Tuivasa in March.

Serghei Spivac Recent Fight Results

Spivac was an undefeated prospect when he made his UFC debut in May 2019 but lost by TKO in the first round to Harris. Since then, he has won seven of his next 10 bouts under the Las Vegas-based promotion and recorded two three-fight win streaks.

Like Tybura, the Moldovan powerhouse won three of his last five fights inside the octagon. He absorbed defeats from Aspinall and Ciryl Gane but scored impressive victories against Hardy, Augusto Sakai, and Derrick Lewis.

Marcin Tybura vs. Serghei Spivac 2: Fight Analysis

The tale of the tape between Tybura and Spivac is almost identical, as the two heavyweight contenders are separated by 2 inches of leg reach in favor of the former. But since this is a rematch, Iโ€™ll talk about the key points that went down from their previous fight four years ago.

During their first encounter, Tybura dominated the fight against Spivac with his superior wrestling and grappling skills. Itโ€™s a bit surprising since Spivac has a solid Sambo fighting base. The Polish contender doubled down on this strategy to produce ground-and-pound supremacy en route to the decision win from the judgesโ€™ scorecards.

However, that fight was four years ago, and Spivac is looking to avenge that setback with his much-improved MMA skills. Following that loss, the Moldovan MMA star only dropped two fights and finished most of his opponents via TKO/KO and submission.

Meanwhile, Tybura has scored more decision wins than finishes, which could indicate that Father Time is slowly keeping up with him and that his explosiveness is on the decline. Regardless, heโ€™s still a threat on the feet and down the ground, and he could inflict significant damage on both areas.

Heading into the fight, Tyburaโ€™s ideal plan is to take the fight down and impose his position on top to wreak ground-and-pound strikes through punches and elbows, just like their first match. However, he needs to be wary of submission maneuvers that Spivac could attempt.

On the other hand, Spivac should keep the fight on the feet and use his more refined striking to look for an early finish. Landing a clean strike against Tybura could give him the best possible outcome, but he needs to make sure he starts strong with forward pressure and volume.

Official Prediction: TKO/KO victory for Serghei Spivac.
