With the 2025 WNBA campaign just around the corner, betting odds on teams to make or miss the playoffs are now available at the BetMGM online sportsbook.
After the WNBA added the Golden State Valkyries as an expansion team in the offseason, eight of the league’s 13 members will make the playoffs this fall.

WNBA Playoff Predictions 2025
The WNBA odds help provide insight for this year’s playoff picture, particularly regarding which teams don’t have postseason odds.
The New York Liberty, Minnesota Lynx, Las Vegas Aces, and Indiana Fever are not listed in the latest WNBA playoff odds. Considering all four teams are the WNBA championship odds favorites, it’s safe to assume their chances of making the playoffs are pretty high.
The Valkyries’ playoff odds are also off the board, though they are considered long shots in their first season in the league.
With that in mind, the remaining eight teams are competing for four playoff spots. Of that bunch, the Seattle Storm (-900), Phoenix Mercury (-500), and Atlanta Dream (-220) have the best odds of securing a postseason berth.
As a result, there might be a handful of teams competing for one final postseason spot. My preferred bet would be to fade the Chicago Sky, who are -120 to miss the playoffs.
After a 13-27 season, the Sky hired Tyler Marsh as their head coach. This young roster is going through a rebuild, and legitimate spacing concerns exist on the offensive end. I’m skeptical it will lead to a playoff berth when the league is as competitive as ever.

The 2025 WNBA playoffs will begin on Sept. 14. The regular season ends on Sept. 11.
How Many Teams Make the WNBA Playoffs?
Eight teams make the first round of the WNBA playoffs. The first round will feature a three-game series, with the higher seed hosting Games 1 and 3.
Explaining the New WNBA Playoff Structure in 2025
Starting in 2025, the WNBA Finals will feature a seven-game series. The higher seed will host Games 1, 2, 5, and 7, while the lower seed will host Games 3, 4, and 6. The semifinal round will continue to be a five-game series (2-2-1), while the first round will be a best-of-three series (1-1-1).
