Reigning IBF World Super Welterweight champion Bakhram Murtazaliev will be defending his championship for the first time against former world champion Tim Tszyu on Oct. 19 inside the Caribe Royale Orlando.

Although heโ€™s the undefeated fighter heading into the match, Murtazaliev still comes in as the considerable underdog with +400 boxing odds. Meanwhile, Tszyu will be the heavy favorite with +500 odds.

Bakhram Murtazaliev vs. Tim Tszyu: Prediction

My prediction is a unanimous decision victory for Tszyu because he has more solid experience in world title fights and has fought tougher competition than Murtazaliev.

There isnโ€™t much of a difference between Murtazaliev and Tszyu in terms of physical attributes because they have the same reach of 72 inches. However, the defending champion will enjoy a 3-inch height advantage against the challenger.

Their fighting style is different because Murtazaliev is an aggressive boxer who likes to come forward and pressure his opponents. He marches forward using his power punches, automatically backing up his foes.

Once he gets into a rhythm and gets his opponent hurt, he immediately jumps to them and pours down punches and combinations to find the knockout or until the referee halts the match for a TKO finish.

Meanwhile, Tsyzu is a more volume puncher who overwhelms his opponents. His jab game is arguably one of the best in the division, making him a fearsome and nightmare opponent for anyone.

Tsyzu breaks down opponents like a tree, and once they crumble to his sheer volume, he goes into a relentless mode to finish them off in the latter rounds. His incredible cardio is the primary catalyst for his fighting style.

Both boxing stars have a path to win this championship showdown. But I believe that Tszyuโ€™s wealth of experience in fighting elite contenders and champions will play a massive part in this match.

Murtazaliev made his pro debut in May 2014 and has since become undefeated. Among the minor titles he won were the WBC USA Super Welterweight title and the Eurasian Boxing Parliament Super Welterweight title.

In April, he was given the opportunity to fight for a world title, as he was pitted against Jack Culcay for the vacant IBF World Super Welterweight championship in Germany. The Russian-born, now in California, maximized the opportunity and won via 11th-round knockout.

When he made his pro debut in December 2016, Tszyu also dominated the Asia and Oceania boxing circuit. He captured several minor titles in the region and defeated notable opponents like Jeff Horn and Takeshi Inoue.

In October 2023, he won the WBO World Super Welterweight title unanimously over Brian Mendoza. His previous bout in March was a close split decision loss to Sebastian Fundora, where he failed to unify the WBO and WBC world titles.
