Jermall Charlo is one of the famous Charlo twins and is the current undisputed junior middleweight world champion of the world. He received his second professional defeat at the hands of Canelo Alvarez via unanimous decision when he moved up two divisions up to challenge him for the undisputed super middleweight titles in September 2023.

Before that loss to Alvarez, he after knocked out Brian Carlos Castano in last May 2022 to unify all four major boxing belts (IBF, WBA, WBC, and WBO). He and Castano fought in a split draw result in July 2021.

Because of this triumph, the “Iron Man” is now a household name in online sports betting, particularly in boxing odds.

Jermell Charlo’s estimated boxing earnings are over $4.5 million since competing professionally in December 2007. He is his promoter and negotiates the terms and contracts of his fights through the Lions Only Promotion, thus securing four successive six-figure single-fight payouts in his last four fights. 

Charlo’s biggest single-fight purse came in his fight with Canelo Alvarez on September 30 he was expected to pocket a minimum of $1.5 million from that fight.

Jermell Charlo was first trained by Ronnie Shields alongside his twin brother, Jermall Charlo, for the first eight years of his professional career, where they usually train and spar together. However, in 2015, the “Iron Man” felt he needed to leave his original camp to sharpen his boxing skills further.

Jermell Charlo hired renowned boxing coach Derrick James as his next trainer. James developed Charlo ingo a knockout artist; his undisputed world title triumph was a key testament to it. After making the coaching switch, the fighter out of Lafayette, Louisiana, was able to finish and knock out seven of his last 10 opponents. 

Aside from Jermell, Derrick James also trains boxing champion Errol Spence Jr. and rising star Burley Brooks.
