Itโ€™s the oldest advice in the book โ€“ if you want to win in online sports betting, you should bet some underdogs.ย

Thatโ€™s all well and good. But how often do college football dogs actually win?ย

I dug into the history of college football odds to find out.ย

How Often Do Underdogs Win In College Football Betting?

Since 2005, college football teams who play as underdogs in the regular season win 24.7% of the time.

Since 2018, when the US Supreme Court overturned PASPA, underdogs have won at a slightly greater frequency of 25.3%.

Consistently betting underdogs isnโ€™t going to net you a great win percentage. But with the right selections, they can be a net positive betting enterprise.
