  • Indianaโ€™s unbalanced Big Ten schedule includes seven of the bottom eight teams.
  • Six of the last seven games between Indiana and Ohio State have gone over.

The 2024 college football season has been a banner year for Indiana football odds.ย

This week, the Hoosiers get their long-awaited major test at the end of a manageable schedule: a trip to Columbus to play Ohio State.

  • Moneyline: Ohio State -500ย  |ย  Indiana +375
  • Over/Under: 52.5

Indiana vs. Ohio State Preview

BetMGMโ€™s college football odds arenโ€™t giving Indiana much of a chance. Ohio State is a double-digit favorite, with the line sliding toward -14 in the early parts of the week.ย

Indiana might be undefeated, and Curt Cignetti will likely be national coach of the year yet again. But the Hoosiers were dealt an incredibly fortunate set of opponents in the new unbalanced Big Ten schedule, drawing seven of the eight worst teams in the conference in addition to Ohio State.

Because of that, many bettors are willing to wager that this Saturday is the day negative regression finally catches up to Indiana.

If Indiana is destined to lose, I wouldnโ€™t be surprised if the Hoosiers kept it tight for at least the first half. Indiana 1H +7.5 is an interesting angle on the game.

However, Iโ€™m mostly interested in the total here.

In terms of trends, the Buckeyes and Hoosiers have gone over the total in six of their last seven games. I expect that stat will get a lot of play this week.ย

But if you look at the individual games, most of those games went way over because Ohio Stateโ€™s nuclear offenses regularly scored 50 points against Indiana.

Thatโ€™s not the kind of offense Ohio State has this year with Chip Kelly calling plays and Will Howard playing quarterback. Since the start of conference play, Ohio State has scored more than 38 points just once in a game, and that was against terrible Purdue.

Against competent Big Ten teams, Ohio State is scoring in the rough range of 21 to 31 points. Against Indianaโ€™s above-average defense, I would expect that trend to hold.ย

Indiana vs. Ohio State Prediction

I am predicting an Under 52.5 in Saturdayโ€™s game between Indiana and Ohio State.

The Buckeyes are 6-4 to the under this year and mostly play lower-scoring games, particularly against other top competition. Indiana might not be the CFP juggernaut that a 10-0 record might suggest, but it is a good team.

Indiana vs. Ohio State Pick: Under 52.5
