The Ohio State Buckeyes (13-2) and Notre Dame Fighting Irish (14-1) will square off in the national championship game at 7:30 p.m. ET on Monday in Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The Buckeyes are favored by more than a touchdown after an impressive run through the first 12-team College Football Playoff. Ohio State has defeated Tennessee, Oregon, and Texas to reach the title game.

Notre Dame earned wins over Indiana, Georgia, and Penn State. The Fighting Irish were never more than one-point underdogs in any of those games, so can they pull off an upset to claim the title?

Based on the latest college football betting lines at the BetMGM online sportsbook, my Ohio State vs. Notre Dame prediction is for Jeremiah Smith to score a touchdown (-115) as the perfect way for the Buckeyes’ receiver to cap off a prolific freshman campaign.

Smith was held to one reception for three yards against Texas, marking his worst performance of the season. Before that, he had scored four touchdowns in the previous two CFP games and has recorded 14 scores on the season.

Notre Dame’s defense deserves plenty of respect, but I have a hard time believing Smith will be shut down in consecutive weeks. He has scored touchdowns in 11 of his 14 games this season, establishing himself as one of the best players in college football.

Markets are usually more efficient in championship games, so this is my favorite way to have action on the Ohio State vs. Notre Dame showdown.
