College football is a young manโ€™s game, and modern football is often coached by young, 30 and 40-something geniuses who cut their teeth in a new era of offense-friendly rules.ย

But donโ€™t ignore the old hats, who are almost always at the top of the game. Thereโ€™s usually a reason these guys have been around forever: They win.

Amusingly, North Carolina had the oldest coach in college football in 2024: 73-year-old Mack Brown. At the end of the season, the UNC leadership fired Brown and replaced him with โ€ฆ Bill Belichik.ย

The former NFL head coach will be 73 this season and โ€“ you guessed it โ€“ the oldest coach in FBS college football.ย
