As of June 10, the Arizona Diamondbacks’ odds to win the World Series in 2023 are +5000, ranking them 14th in Major League Baseball.

Prior to Opening Day, the online sportsbook had the Diamondbacks at +6600 to win the World Series, but as their unexpectedly strong start to the season saw them force their way to the top of the NL East, their odds changed accordingly.

Arizona Diamondbacks World Series History

The Diamondbacks have only won one World Series title in their franchise’s history — 2001.

In fact, 2001 is also the only World Series the Diamondbacks have appeared in. The team has competed in four other NL Championship Series (1999, 2002, 2007, 2011) and one Wild Card Series (2017), but failed to advance further each time.

The 2001 World Series saw the Diamondbacks beat the heavily-favored New York Yankees in seven games, with Arizona pitchers Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling named World Series co-MVPs. The Series began later than usual due to a delay in the regular season after the September 11 attacks, and was the first in MLB history to extend into November.

Largely considered by fans to be one of the greatest World Series showdowns of all time, 2001 was the third World Series in MLB history to end in a bases-loaded, walk-off hit, following 1991 and 1997. As of 2023, it remains the last World Series to end in a walk-off hit of any kind.
