As of May 25, the San Diego Padres’ odds to win the World Series in 2023 are +1600, seventh in MLB behind the Atlanta Braves (+500), Los Angeles Dodgers (+500), Tampa Bay Rays (+650), Houston Astros (+700), New York Yankees (+1200), and Toronto Blue Jays (+1400).
Prior to Opening Day, the online sportsbook had the Padres eighth in MLB with World Series odds of +1400. Their odds dropped off as they struggled at the start of the season, but as they pushed back in the NL East, the Padres’ odds changed accordingly.
San Diego Padres World Series History
The Padres are one of six active teams in Major League Baseball to have never won a World Series title. The others are the Texas Rangers, Milwaukee Brewers, Seattle Mariners, Colorado Rockies, and Tampa Bay Rays.
Founded in 1969, the Padres won two NL pennants in 1984 and 1998 but lost the World Series both years. The team has reached the postseason seven times in total, most recently in 2022, when they won the Wild Game Series and the NL Division Series, but were ultimately eliminated by the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLCS.
