The Boston Red Sox haven’t made the postseason since reaching the ALCS in 2021. They’re currently in the mix for the 2024 MLB playoff picture.

Red Sox Playoff Chances

The Red Sox playoff odds are +145, which implies a 40.82% chance of making the postseason.

Their playoff odds are the third-shortest in the AL East:

  • Yankees: Off the board
  • Orioles: -10000
  • Red Sox: +145
  • Rays: +450
  • Blue Jays: +1000

Red Sox Playoff Seed

If the postseason began today, the Red Sox would be the final team of a six-team AL bracket. They’re eight games behind the New York Yankees for the division lead in the AL East and percentage points ahead of the Kansas City Royals for the final Wild Card spot.

At this point, the Red Sox would travel to the Seattle Mariners in a best-of-three Wild Card Series.

Here’s the current AL bracket:

Last Time the Red Sox Made the Playoffs

The Red Sox last made the playoffs in 2021, reaching the ALCS before suffering a 4-2 loss to the Houston Astros. Boston won its Wild Card game over the New York Yankees that year and then earned a 3-1 series victory over the Tampa Bay Rays in the ALDS.

The Red Sox won the World Series as recently 2018, defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 4-1 victory.
