If the postseason began today, the Red Sox wouldn’t be in the six-team AL playoff bracket. They’re 14 games back for the division lead in the AL East.

In addition, Boston is four games behind the Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers for the final AL Wild Card spot.

Last Time the Red Sox Made the Playoffs

The Red Sox last made the playoffs in 2021, reaching the ALCS before suffering a 4-2 loss to the Houston Astros. Boston won its Wild Card game over the New York Yankees that year and then earned a 3-1 series victory over the Tampa Bay Rays in the ALDS.

The Red Sox won the World Series as recently 2018, defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 4-1 victory.
