  • There are 29 arenas in the NBA.
  • The average capacity of NBA arenas is 18,790.
  • United Center is the biggest NBA arena.

Basketball betting is more exciting when fans from different fanbases root for their respective teams and place their bets at online sportsbooks, particularly on NBA odds. The fans are considered the 6th man of NBA teams in the league as they cheer during home games.

But who among these NBA teams has the biggest arena based on capacity?

What Is the Biggest NBA Arena?

United Center, the home of the Chicago Bulls (the fourth-winningest NBA franchise in history), is the biggest NBA arena in the 2023-24 season as it houses a capacity of 20,917. It’s one of four arenas in the league which can accommodate over 20,000 fans.

The other three arenas with 20,000-plus seats are the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Capital One Arena in Washington and Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. Nine arenas can accommodate 19,000-plus fans and the other 16 arenas have a capacity between 18,000-plus and 16,000-plus.

On the other hand, the two smallest NBA arenas are the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans and the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, which has 16,867 and 16,600 maximum capacity, respectively.

The newest NBA arena will open in 2024, as the Los Angeles Clippers will have a new home, Intuit Dome. This marks the separation from its city rival, the Los Angeles Lakers, with whom they have shared the home floor since joining the league. Intuit Dome will have an estimated capacity of 18,000.

18,790 is the average capacity of all 29 NBA arenas.
