The NBA is famous for โ€“ among other things โ€“ the massive volume of its top player contracts.

Unlike professional football and baseball, which field rosters with dozens of players, basketball teams often rise or fall on the back of just two or three key contributors. The roster sizes are smaller.ย 

As a result, major player contracts are often huge in scale, and NBA futures are dominated by teams with top players.ย
