Since the First Four was added to the NCAA Tournament in 2011, five total teams have advanced out of the First Four and all the way to the Sweet 16 – the second week of the NCAA Tournament.
That’s about 10% of the total number of at-large teams that have played in the First Four.
Two of those teams, 2021 UCLA and 2011 VCU, played all the way to the Final Four.
First Four teams winning the Round of 64 is much more common. At least one First Four team has won a first-round game in 12 of the 13 years since the 2011 tournament.
