New Division I College Basketball Teams This Season

Le Moyne College is playing its first Division I season in 2023-24. The Le Moyne Dolphins are the only team currently in its first season at the Division I level and their full transition will end in 2028.

As of Jan. 23, the Dolphins ranked as the No. 313 menโ€™s basketball team in KenPom.ย 

There are 11 total teams currently in their transition phase to becoming an eligible Division I institution. Hereโ€™s the complete list:

  • Tarleton State
  • UC San Diego
  • Utah Tech
  • St. Thomas
  • Lindenwood
  • Queens (NC)
  • Southern Indiana
  • Stonehill
  • Texas A&M-Commerce
  • Le Moyne
