Aaron Rodgersโ€™ best football is probably behind him in Green Bay, but the Jets are hoping heโ€™s still good enough to carry the offense forward into playoff contention.ย

After all, the defense has rarely been the problem for Gang Green and New York Jets odds bettors.

Thereโ€™s one thing Rodgers has clearly done right during his swan song in New York. After a long career with more than $300 million in career earnings, Rodgers isnโ€™t a maximally paid player with the Jets.ย

That gives New York greater cap flexibility in building the roster behind Rodgers.

Aaron Rodgers Contract

Aaron Rodgers signed a restructured contract with the Jets after being traded from the Packers in 2023. The deal is worth a total of $112.5 million and runs through the end of the 2025 season.

Rodgersโ€™ deal includes a full no-trade clause, and the Jets cannot use the franchise tag on him at the end of the contract.

Aaron Rodgers Trade

Aaron Rodgers was traded to the Jets on Apr. 24, 2023, alongside a 2023 first-round pick and a fifth-round pick. In return, the Jets gave Green Bay their 2023 first, second, and sixth-round picks, plus a 2024 second-round pick.

Now that all of those picks have been either used or traded again, we know what both teams ended up with as a result of the trade.

The New York Jets received:

  • 39-year-old QB Aaron Rodgers
  • DE Will McDonald IV

The Green Bay Packers received:

  • DE Lukas Van Ness
  • TE Luke Musgrave
  • K Anders Carlson (no longer with Green Bay)

Aaron Rodgers Salary

Aaron Rodgers will earn a base salary of $3.16 million in 2024. Heโ€™ll also earn a $35 million option bonus that will bring his total cash to $38.16 million.

Over the three-year life of his contract, Rodgersโ€™ average annual salary is $37.5 million.

Aaron Rodgers Guaranteed Money

Aaron Rodgers is owed $75 million in guaranteed money.ย

Aaron Rodgers Age

Aaron Rodgers is 40 years old. He will turn 41 during the 2024 season, on Dec. 2.

Aaron Rodgers Injury History

Aaron Rodgers has sustained several injuries over the years, especially throughout his last few seasons. Most famously, he tore his left Achilles tendon just a few plays into the 2023 season, causing him to miss his first season with the Jets.

In 2022, Rodgers sustained both a rib bruise and a thumb fracture.ย

Rodgers also sustained collarbone fractures in 2013 and 2017. The former incident caused him to miss seven games.
