The Chargers’ second straight game on extended rest didn’t help them, as they fell to the Cardinals on Monday night. That leaves the Chargers at 3-3 on the season.
New Orleans fared much worse in Week 7. As slight home dogs to the Broncos, New Orleans received a 33-10 thumping on Thursday Night Football to drop to 2-5.

Chargers vs. Saints Prediction
If the chips fall right on New Orleans’ injury concerns, my Chargers vs. Saints prediction is the Saints Spread (+7.5, -110).
New Orleans is dealing with major injury concerns, but reinforcements could be on the way. Derek Carr, Taysom Hill and Chris Olave could all play on Sunday.
If those players and some offensive line starters return, this will be far too many points for a team that ranked sixth in offensive EPA per play in its first five games.
Even if those players remain out, I still lean toward taking the points with New Orleans.
The Chargers sit seventh in rushing play percentage this season and lead the league in seconds per snap. If the Chargers play slowly, it likely decreases the chances of a blowout.
Even more concerning for Los Angeles: New Orleans owns a sizable rest edge on Sunday. New Orleans has 10 days between games, while the Chargers have only six after a road game.
The Saints also match a historically profitable betting system in this spot.
Non-neutral site underdogs in games 2-8 are 54-15-2 ATS (78%), assuming two factors:
- The underdog lost its previous game by 20 or more points
- The favorite is on a one-game losing streak
When those teams have at least seven days between games: 49-12-2 ATS (80%), including 48-10-1 at +2.5 or higher.
Those metrics might lead me to New Orleans regardless, but I can’t see this number going down early in the week. Accordingly, I’ll wait for clarity on injuries before making a decision.
