Based on injuries to the Bengals running backs and New York’s weakness on the edges, my Giants vs. Bengals prediction is Ja’Marr Chase Over 5.5 Receptions (-135).
Both Chase Brown and Zack Moss were limited in practice on Thursday. If one or both aren’t at 100%, it likely means higher involvement for the Bengals aerial attack.
Even though the strength of New York’s defense is against the pass, this game sets up well for Chase.
In terms of PFF coverage grades, New York’s best corner is Dru Phillips. This season, Phillips primarily plays against opposing slot receivers.
Chase has lined up in the slot on 34% of snaps this season. However, that still leaves a healthy majority of targets out wide against New York’s weaker corners.
Those players are Nick McCloud, Cor’Dale Flott and Deonte Banks. All three currently have PFF coverage grades south of 66.
On Sunday, that trio faces Chase, who’s currently 12th in PFF’s receiving grades with a score of 80.7.
Irrespective of opponent, Chase has cleared this number in three of five contests this season.
