In February 2024, Harrison Butker set a new record for the longest field goal in Super Bowl history. It was a 57-yard line drive kick during the third quarter of Super Bowl LVIII.

Incredibly, 49ers rookie Jake Moody had already set a new record for longest field goal during the same game. Moody provided the first points of the game when he connected on a 55-yard field goal early in the second quarter.ย

Previously, the record for longest field goal in Super Bowl history was held by former Bills kicker Steve Christie, who booted a 54-yarder during Super Bowl XXVIII on Jan. 30, 1994.ย

Butker, who had been incredible throughout the 2024 stretch run and playoffs, brought Kansas City within four points of San Francisco. The record field goal made the score 10-6.ย

The Chiefs went on to win in overtime.
