  • Two previous NFL Drafts saw six quarterbacks taken in the first round.
  • The 2024 NFL Draft tied the record for the most QBs selected in round one.
  • In 2025, fewer quarterbacks are expected to be drafted in the first round.

The record for the most quarterbacks selected in the first round of the NFL Draft is six.ย

That occurred twice in previous NFL Drafts. The first such occurrence came in the famous 1983 NFL Draft, where three future Hall of Famers heard their names called in the first round.ย

Those quarterbacks were John Elway (1st overall), Jim Kelly (7th overall) and Dan Marino (27th overall).ย

The record was then matched at the 2024 NFL Draft, which saw six quarterbacks taken in the first 12 overall picks.ย

Those picks were Caleb Williams (1st), Jayden Daniels (2nd), Drake Maye (3rd), Michael Penix Jr. (8th), J.J. McCarthy (10th) and Drake Maye (12th).ย

The pace at which 2024 saw its six quarterbacks drafted outranked the pace in 1983. In the latter draft, the six quarterbacks heard their names called over a 27-pick span.ย

At the 2025 NFL Draft, fewer quarterbacks are expected to hear their names in round 1.ย

Based on NFL draft odds, the over/under for quarterbacks selected in the first round is set at 2.5, with over 2.5 juiced to -450.ย
