Odell Beckham Jr.โs transaction sheet is long, indeed.ย
The 31-year-old receiver was originally drafted by the Giants at No. 12 overall in 2014. In New York, OBJ earned major attention after his infamous one-handed catch against the Cowboys near the end of the 2014 season.
That attention quickly fermented into a diva phase โ OBJ was fined or suspended 10 times from December 2014 to December 2016.ย
In August 2018, Beckham signed a five-year, $90 million extension with the Giants, but New York traded him away to Cleveland just seven months later, at the opening of the 2019 NFL calendar year.ย
Hard times were ahead for OBJ. He tore the ACL in his left knee in 2020; a year later, the Browns dropped Beckham in November 2021.ย
But his departure from Cleveland ended up as a huge career win. Beckham signed a small contract with the Los Angeles Rams, who won the Super Bowl three months later.ย
OBJ reinjured his knee in the first half of Super Bowl LVI, but not before opening the scoring with a 17-yard touchdown pass from Matt Stafford.
As OBJ rehabbed throughout the 2022 season, he was preparing for what is likely the final phase of his career: the mercenary era.ย
In 2023, Beckham signed a one-year, $15 million contract with the Ravens, reaching the AFC championship game. In 2024, he surely hopes his new team โ the Dolphins โ can mount a similar run through the AFC playoffs.ย
