Jonathan Taylor was drafted by the Colts with the 41st overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Two running backs were drafted before him.

The first running back off the board was LSU’s Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who was grabbed with the final pick in the first round.

The Lions drafted D’Andre Swift at No. 35 overall, in the beginning of the second round.

There would have been a time when a college running back with the stats and profile of Jonathan Taylor would have been an automatic top-10 pick.

Instead, running back contracts have been devalued, and Taylor fell all the way to the second round.

What’s Jonathan Taylor’s Salary?

Jonathan Taylor’s base salary for the 2023 NFL season is $4,304,000.

Taylor is in the final year of a four-year rookie contract that pays out a total of $7,829,150.
