Tee Higgins was drafted with the first pick of the second round in the 2020 NFL Draft. He quickly became an integral part of the Cincinnati Bengals’ young core that reached back-to-back AFC championship games.

Higgins racked up 24 touchdowns and nearly 3,700 receiving yards over the course of his four-year rookie contract, which ended at the conclusion of the 2023 season. There’s no question that he’s a highly productive receiver.

Unfortunately, the NFL remains a hard-capped sport, and the Bengals have to make choices about who gets paid. With Cincinnati shelling out tens of millions for the Joe Burrow contract and Ja’Marr Chase contract, Higgins is the odd man out in the bank line.

Tee Higgins Contract

Tee Higgins has been offered Cincinnati’s franchise tag for the 2024 season. Barring a sign & trade scenario, Higgins would play for the Bengals on a one-year contract worth $21.8 million.

Higgins’ rookie contract was a four-year deal worth $8.68 million.

Tee Higgins Salary

Tee Higgins will earn $21,816,000 for 2024, all of which is tagged as base salary.

For this season, Higgins currently ranks seventh on the list of highest-paid NFL wide receivers.

Tee Higgins Franchise Tag

Like any other NFL player, Tee Higgins is free to request (or demand) a trade.

However, once the team has tagged him, he only has two options for the 2024 season: play on the tag (and get paid nearly $22 million) or sit out the season. Higgins won’t be considered an open-market player until 2025 free agency.
