Which NFL Teams Play on Thanksgiving?

The Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys always play on Thanksgiving. They’re two of six teams playing on Thanksgiving this year.

Here’s the NFL schedule for Nov. 28, 2024:

Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions

12:30 p.m. ET

The Lions have been playing on Thanksgiving since 1934, and during the 2023 campaign, Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers defeated Jared Goff and Detroit, 29-22.

This season’s installment of the yearly Detroit tradition will feature 2024 No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams in the national spotlight, as Chicago will look to take down a Lions team that just made the NFC Championship a season ago. 

New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys

4:30 p.m. ET

The NFC East is filled with storied rivalries, and this Thanksgiving showdown between Dallas and New York should be a sweet treat.

Since 1966, the Cowboys have been a staple during the holiday, and Dak Prescott against Daniel Jones could have more at stake than ever before.

Dallas is coming off a Wild Card Round loss to Green Bay, while New York is looking to improve upon their 6-11 regular season record.

Miami Dolphins at Green Bay Packers

8:20 p.m. ET

The nightcap will feature an exciting interleague matchup between two quarterbacks that recently got paid on the same day: Tua Tagovailoa and Jordan Love.

The Dolphins quarterback signed a four-year, $212.4 million extension, and then Love proceeded to sign a four-year, $220 million contract hours later, a number that ties him for the highest-paid player in NFL history.

Both quarterbacks will showcase their talent on the big stage in a game that could have potential playoff implications, as both squads are coming off Wild Card Round losses in 2023.
