1. Pierre-Luc Dubois – $11.25 Million

Dubois, 26, was traded for a third time since 2021, going from the Kings to the Capitals in late June.

He’s coming off his lowest point total (40) of his career, but his current contract runs through 2030-31.

2. Alex Ovechkin – $11 Million

Alex Ovechkin’s contract keeps him in Washington through his age-40 season. The former No. 1 overall pick in the 2004 draft has spent his entire career with the Capitals.

3. Thomas Wilson – $9 Million

Wilson signed a seven-year extension worth $45.5 million last August to stay with the only team he’s ever known since being drafted in the first round in 2012.

4. Nicklas Backstrom – $8 Million

Backstrom, 37, enters the final season of his five-year, $46 million deal with the Capitals.

T-5. John Carlson – $6 Million

Carlson won’t be a free agent until 2026, when he will be 37 years old.

T-5. Dylan Strome – $6 Million

After joining the Capitals in 2022-23, Strome signed a five-year extension for $25 million in February of that campaign. He will be a free agent in 2029, when he will be 31 years old.

7. Andrew Mangiapane – $5.8 Million

Washington sent a second-round pick to the Calgary Flames this offseason for Mangiapane, who can become a free agent next summer.

8. Rasmus Sandin – $5 Million

Instead of letting Sandin become a restricted free agent, Washington gave the defenseman a five-year, $23 million contract in March. Sandin is now under team control through his age-28 season in 2028-29.

9. Nick Jensen – $4.15 Million

The 34-year-old defenseman has two years left on his contract after signing a 3-year, $12.15 million extension in 2023.

10. T.J. Oshie – $4 Million

Oshio has been with the team since 2015, but his contract with the Capitals ends after this season.
