  • Matt Kuchar gets up-and-down 68% of the time from the sand.
  • Brian Harman is another terrific sand player.
  • The best bunker players can save themselves many shots.

Over the course of a round on the PGA Tour, players will likely find themselves in a bunker.

The best players will be able to get out with ease, but there are players who struggle, which usually leads to bogeys. Of the many PGA Tour winners, a lot of them have success playing out of bunkers.

Here are the best bunker players on the PGA Tour:

Matt Kuchar

Kuchar has been around the game a long time and has mastered playing out of the sand.

In 2022-23, he led the PGA Tour in sand saves, getting up and down 68% of the time. This comes following the 2021-22 season, where he was third in sand saves (65%).

His ability to get out of the sand is a major reason why he’s been one of the most consistent players on the PGA Tour for many years.

Brian Harman

After winning the 2023 Open Championship and making the Ryder Cup team, Harman gained some popularity and established himself as one of the better players on Tour.

Part of the reason for this is Harman’s play from the sand.

In 2022-23, he was third in sand saves (64%), and in 2021-22 he was 10th (62%).

Sungjae Im

Im plays virtually every week on the PGA Tour, so he finds himself in a lot of bunkers. In fact, he was in 147 during the 2022-23 season.

Of those 147 times, he got up and down 91 times (62%). That was good for fourth on the PGA Tour. In 2021-22, he was 26th (57%).

Chris Kirk

Kirk won the Honda Classic in 2023, and one of the reasons why was his play out of the sand.

For the 2022-23 season, he finished 11th in sand saves (60%), which came following the 2021-22 season, where he finished 31st (56%).

Andrew Putnam

Putnam has only one PGA Tour win to his name, but he’s one of the most consistent bunkers players on Tour.

In 2022-23, he was 13th in sand saves (59%), while the year before he was 21st (58%).
