  • The Masters is April 6-9.
  • Recent winners have had past success at Augusta National.
  • Winners are generally ranked high in the Official World Golf Rankings.

It’s officially Masters week and the best week of the year when it comes to golf betting

There are plenty of storylines to follow, and a lot of the best players in the world come into the week in peak form, so it’s shaping up to be one of the most memorable Masters in recent memory.

Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy currently have the best Masters odds at +700.

Picking an outright winner is extremely hard to do, but there are some trends to know for this week at Augusta National.

Masters Betting Strategy

More so than most tournaments, past performance at Augusta National is imperative. Given all the subtleties to the course, first-time players are at a disadvantage, and the more experience a player has, the better off they are.

Knowing the proper way to play certain holes is very important to have success this week. Longer hitters do have an advantage on some holes, but for the most part, the course is about ball striking and navigating the fast and tricky greens.

It is also crucial to take advantage of the four par-5s, especially the two on the back nine.

18 of the Last 23 Winners Made Cut in Most Recent Tour Start

  1. Scheffler
  2. McIlroy
  3. Cantlay
  4. Smith
  5. Schauffele
  6. Hovland
  7. Thomas
  8. Morikawa
  9. Finau
  10. Spieth
  11. Im

Eliminated: Rahm, Zalatoris, Fitzpatrick, Hatton

This was a bit tricky since the last event for almost all of these players was the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, and it doesn’t have an official cut.

But Rahm didn’t make it out of group play and withdrew from the Players Championship in his previous start. Zalatoris did not record a single point at the Match Play and finished 74th at the Players Championship. Hatton missed the cut at the Valero Texas Open. And lastly, Fitzpatrick didn’t make it out of group play at the Match Play and missed the cut at his last stroke play event, the Valspar Championship.

Based on these trends, one of the 11 players above will win the 2023 Masters. Keep that in mind when making your picks.
