RBC Canadian Open 2023: Best Prop Bets

Prop bets are a nice alternative to outright winners in golf betting each week. For example, instead of selecting a player to win, picking him to finish in the top 10 might have better value. 

Given that Rory McIlroy (+450 odds to win) is a massive favorite this week at the RBC Canadian Open, these could make a lot more sense.

Oakdale Golf & Country Club is hosting the event for the first time, so there isn’t much data to go on.

Below are my best prop bets for the RBC Canadian Open.

Eric Cole Top-20 Finish +220

The PGA Tour rookie has finished inside the top 20 in three of his last five starts and checks a lot of the boxes this week, as he’s one of the game’s best ball strikers.

It’s also worth noting a lot of his top finishes this season have been on easier courses where scores have been low, and that is expected to be the case this week.

Ludvig Aberg Top-20 Finish +210

Even though Aberg just finished up at Texas Tech, this is his sixth career PGA Tour start. He’s made the cut in three of his first five PGA Tour events, and that includes a T-24 earlier this year at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Aberg earned his PGA Tour card by finishing first in the PGA Tour University standings and can play with more freedom knowing he has a spot on Tour.

Michael Thorbjornsen Top-20 Finish +400

Many golf diehards might remember Thorbjornsen from the Travelers Championship last summer, when he finished fourth and held a share for the lead in the final round.

He just finished up his junior year at Stanford and qualified for the U.S. Open earlier in the week by being the medalist at the New Jersey Final Qualifying site. Thorbjornsen will likely use that momentum to his advantage this week.
