UFC Macau: Yan vs. Figueiredo Fight Card, Predictions, & Odds

Two ranked UFC bantamweight contenders will collide on Nov. 23 during the main event of the UFC Macau card, as the No. 3-ranked contender Petr Yan takes on the No. 5-rated divisional challenger Deiveson Figueiredo inside the Galaxy Arena in Macau, China.

Yan and Figueiredo are coming off victories from their previous bouts, but the former’s credential as the former king of the 135-pound division has made him the considerable betting favorite with -370 UFC odds. 

Meanwhile, despite being a former UFC champion in the flyweight division and riding a perfect 3-0 record in the bantamweight division, Figueiredo still heads into the match as the +380 betting underdog.

Yan’s explosiveness and power can put any fighter in the bantamweight division to sleep, and I predict he’ll beat Figueiredo with a TKO/KO finish. Furthermore, Yan is currently at the peak of his professional career at 31.

There isn’t much of a difference between Yan and Figueiredo in their tale of the tape, with the former enjoying a 2-inch height advantage and the latter looking to maximize his 1-inch edge in reach.

Stylistically, the former bantamweight king uses his elite striking to break down his opponent with various combinations. Yan’s boxing and powerful kicks have victimized most of his opponents. Additionally, he has a decent takedown defense.

Meanwhile, the former flyweight champion uses a more grappling-heavy style to get the finish. This accounts for an equal number of his TKO/KO and submission finishes in his career at nine each.

Although Figueiredo looked good in his first three bantamweight fights, where he scored impressive wins against notable opponents, his age will be the most significant factor in this fight, as he’s approaching 37 at the end of the year. 

The Brazilian MMA superstar may not have the same athleticism and explosiveness he had two or three years ago, which Yan can exploit using his speed and footwork. Once Yan touches him with his tremendous power, it could be over for Figueiredo.

Petr Yan Recent Fight Results

Yan was a former ACB champion when the UFC signed him in 2018. He made a successful promotional debut against Teruto Ishihara and scored a first-round finish. Since then, he swept his next six fights in the UFC and won the vacant bantamweight title against Jose Aldo in July 2020.

However, he only briefly reigned as the division’s undisputed king, as Aljamain Sterling defeated him via disqualification in March 2021. Yan only won two fights in his next five outings, and his most recent fight was a unanimous decision win over Song Yadong in March.

Deiveson Figueiredo Recent Fight Results

Figueiredo was a former two-time UFC flyweight champion who defeated notable opponents like Jarred Brooks, Alexandre Pantoja, Tim Elliott, Joseph Benavidez, and Brandon Moreno before moving up in the bantamweight division in 2023.

The move of “Deus da Guerras” to the 135-pound weight class has been a success so far. He has won all his fights and defeated Rob Font in December, Cody Garbrandt in April, and most recently, Marlon Vera in August to climb into the top five rankings.
