Two title fights headline the second UFC pay-per-view of 2023 inside the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia, as reigning undisputed lightweight champion Islam Makhachev (23-1) defends his title for the first time against featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski (25-1) in a champion versus champion super showdown.
Aside from Makhachev’s UFC Lightweight Title, the number one pound-for-pound ranking of Volkanovski is also on the line in this champion versus champion super fight as the Australian featherweight champion currently sits at the top of the pound-for-pound rankings, while his opponent is at the number two spot.

Also on the card is the interim featherweight title match between the number two-ranked contender Yair Rodriguez (15-3) and number five challenger Josh Emmett (18-2), which will co-main-event the MMA action. Makhachev and Rodriguez will be the favorites to win in the UFC odds, while Volkanovski and Emmett play the underdog role in UFC betting.
Since Volkanovski holds victories against the current number one UFC featherweight contender Max Holloway and number three-ranked challenger Brian Ortega, he would need a new challenger for the belt, which is why the Las Vegas-based promotion decided to put an interim title fight between Rodriguez and Emmett.
