  • Sean O'Malley is the new UFC Bantamweight Champion.
  • O'Malley defeated Aljamain Sterling in the main event of UFC 292 via second-round TKO.
  • O'Malley's next opponent will be Marlon Vera in a rematch on March 2024 at UFC 299.

Sean O’Malley realized his dream to become a UFC champion after stopping Aljamain Sterling in the main event of UFC 292 inside the TD Garden in Boston. “Suga Sean” defied the UFC odds in that match as the underdog by landing his patented right-hand punch to end Sterling’s reign as the 135-pound division champion.

It was his 17th career victory and 12th TKO/KO win. He now rides a five-fight winning streak that dates back to March 2021. His lone defeat was courtesy of Marlon Vera in August 2020 when he stopped O’Malley in the opening round. With a big target on his back now, who should the 28-year-old face next inside the Octagon?

When Is Sean O’Malley’s Next Fight?

O’Malley will settle his unfinished business with Marlon Vera as he rematches him in the main event of UFC 299 on March 2024 for his UFC bantamweight title. Vera previously beat O’Malley in their first meeting in August 2020 via first-round TKO because of an injury he suffered on his leg.
