  • The Chicago Sky went 18-22 last year before focusing on a rebuild this offseason.
  • Chicago's win total is 11.5 in 2024.

The Chicago Sky won a title as recently as 2021, but those aren’t the expectations entering the new WNBA season.

Chicago is a long shot to win the championship or even make the playoffs via the latest odds at the online sportsbook.

Sky Futures Odds

Win total: 11.5
To make playoffs: +350
To miss playoffs: -450
Championship odds: +4000

The Sky were the last team to win a championship before the superteam era. They went 16-16 in the regular season before getting hot at the right time in the playoffs.

But those days are long gone, so more teams are rebuilding or forming their superteam.

After last year’s 18-22 campaign, Chicago chose the former, opting to trade away Kahleah Copper to the Phoenix Mercury.

The Sky haven’t won fewer than 12 games in a season since their first year in the league in 2006, when they went 5-29. Bettors need to pay -120 vig to take under 11.5 wins this year.

Sky 2024 Betting Prediction

Prediction: Chicago Sky Under 11.5 Wins (-120)

The Sky selected talented former SEC foes Kamilla Cardoso and Angel Reese in the first round of this year’s WNBA Draft.

But I’m skeptical of how well they will mesh together on the court since they offer similar strengths and weaknesses.

With Cardoso sidelined to start the year, Reese will get a chance to make the first impression.

Still, teams relying on so much youth will struggle to compete in a top-heavy league.

In my preseason WNBA power rankings, I rated the Sky as the worst team, and if that’s true, I don’t see them cracking double-digit wins.
