I predict that Naverrete will finish Valdez in this world title rematch because he’ll once again maximize his reach advantage to keep him at bay. Add the fact that Navarette heads into the match with a fully healed right hand.
Navarrete injured his hand midway into their first fight but still managed to end the match in lopsided fashion. He used his stiff jabs to fend off any attack from Valdez and score points on the judges’ scorecards.
The sheer volume of Navarette’s punches is more than enough to overwhelm and overshadow the punching power of the challenger, as seen in the first match. Expect the defending champion to do the same in this second meeting.
Valdez’s best moments in that fight were when he launched forward and blitzed Navarrete with multiple punches. However, his work rate was never near his opponent’s output, and that is what he needs to improve in the rematch.

Navarrete has won 38 of his 41 professional bouts since his debut in February 2012. He scored victories against Isaac Dogboe, Juan Miguel Elorde, Jeo Santisima, Joet Gonzalez, and Valdez to capture the WBO World Super Featherweight championship.
Following that first win over Valdez, Navarrete had a majority draw match with Robson Conceição in November 2023 and a split-decision loss to Denys Berinchyk in May to come up short in his bid to become a two-division champion.
Óscar Valdez Recent Fight Results
Valdez was the former WBC World Super Featherweight champion who swept his first 28 professional fights. Shakur Stevenson snapped his unbeaten streak in April 2022 in their WBC-WBO super featherweight unification bout, losing unanimously.
Since then, he has appeared in three fights and accumulated a 2-1 win-loss card. Valdez won against Adam Lopez in May 2023 via unanimous decision and Liam Wilson in March via seventh-round TKO finish. His other setback was courtesy of Navarette from their first match in August 2023.
