What kind of preseason college football odds would you have needed three months ago to bet a G5 running back to win the Heisman? 

100-to-1? 1,000? 10,000?

For most experienced college football futures bettors, the number would have to be very large. 

Ashton Jeanty’s chances of winning the Heisman were so imperceptibly small prior to Week 1 that the BetMGM online sportsbook didn’t even price him in the market. They had to open him at +5000 after Week 2. 

But college football seasons are long, and much has changed since August. Once a national unknown, Jeanty is now one of four players who is considered a true contender for the 2024 Heisman Trophy.

Ashton Jeanty is currently +350 to win the Heisman Trophy at BetMGM.

As of Nov. 11, about 9.3% of Heisman tickets are on Gabriel.

Through Week 12, Ashton Jeanty has racked up 1,893 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns.

He’s averaging 7.4 yards per carry and is threatening to break Barry Sanders’ NCAA single-season record for rushing yards.

Ashton Jeanty Heisman Prediction

I am predicting that Ashton Jeanty will not win the Heisman.

Jeanty probably should win the Heisman. He’s having a historic season that should be rewarded. But at the end of the day, I’m still skeptical that voters will reward a G5 running back with the most prestigious trophy in college football – especially when other guys like Cam Ward and Travis Hunter are available. 

That theory was backed up when Jeanty’s odds dropped down the table after Week 9. He “only” rushed for 128 yards and a touchdown.
