College football Week 10 is set to deliver some major matchups, starting with the high-stakes Ohio State vs. Penn State game on Saturday afternoon in Happy Valley.Â
The winner will be in great position for the Big Ten championship and College Football Playoff picture; the loser could be out of both.
That’s just one of many high-impact games scheduled for this weekend. The ACC gets some major clarification with four ranked teams in action. First-place Texas A&M hits the SEC trail for South Carolina.Â
And what’s going on with the NCAA football odds in that Minnesota game?!
I have notes, leans, betting predictions, and more. Read on.Â
College Football Best Bets: Week 10 Predictions
After I’ve handicapped the whole board each week, I publish my best plays from the wider canon of college football odds.Â
With many years of success and ROI in the college football betting space, there are hundreds of people interested in tailing the picks. That’s fine by me!Â
Actually, my weekly picks have become so popular that I’ve been fielding DMs and requests for extra analysis on games.Â
So, here’s the schedule. I usually work all Sunday throughout the day and night, breaking down games and numbers. Every Monday, I release the first edition of my weekly college football best bets. If you want, you can go check that out after you’re done here.
This article is an expanded article with predictions and leans on key college football games that I still like but didn’t quite make the best bet cut.Â
If you’re looking for a little bonus analysis on the best games of Week 10, you’ve come to the right place.
Jacksonville State at Liberty Prediction
Will a loss to dreadful Kennesaw shake the Flames from their lethargy? Liberty has looked bored and deeply average through most of this season.Â
After six games of mediocrity, maybe Liberty is just bad. This is a lean for me because Liberty could wake up and play good football at any moment, but so far, JSU has been the better team this season.
Bet: Jacksonville State +1.5
Nov 23 - 1 pm ESTWestern Kentucky at Liberty
Ohio State vs. Penn State Prediction
Everybody knows the trend. Penn State is good, but the Nittany Lions can’t quite beat the big boys at Ohio State and Michigan. They’ve lost seven straight to big brother in Columbus, which might have something to do with Ohio State playing as a 3.5-point road favorite.
Maybe I’m taking the bait here, but I just don’t think this Ohio State team has impressed me this year. It still has explosive players, yet the offensive seems to lack its typical tOSU explosiveness. It doesn’t burn quite as hot.
I think peak Drew Allar is better than peak Will Howard. I think Penn State’s home field advantage is valuable. I think three points and the hook feels like substantial advantage in a low-scoring game.Â
Speaking of which – five of the last six games have gone under the total.
Give me Penn State here with the spread and the moneyline, and I like the under as well. This is a same-game parlay candidate.Â
Bet: Penn State +3.5; Under 46.5
Nov 23 - 3 pm ESTPenn State at Minnesota
Texas A&M vs. South Carolina Prediction
I grabbed South Carolina very quickly at +3.5 on Monday morning, but by the time I was able to write and publish my college football best bets column, the college football spreads market had flipped to +2.5.Â
I like a competitive game from South Carolina, but since this number isn’t as valuable, the bet isn’t quite as good.
Bet: South Carolina +2.5
Nov 23 - 7 pm ESTTexas A and M at Auburn
UL Monroe vs. Marshall Prediction
I liked Monroe last week as a substantial dog, and they got wiped out by South Alabama.Â
Here, they’re getting even less respect in a road game against Marshall. I’m inclined to buy the dip and go back for my money.Â
Bet: UL Monroe +10.5
Nov 23 - 7 pm ESTMarshall at Old Dominion
Army vs. Air Force Prediction
In my best bets article, I wrote about how I wanted to lay the points with Army, but the total was actually a better value. Here, I’ll double down on that with an Army -23.5 bet and a parlay on top.Â
Bet: Army -23.5; Over 41.5
Nov 23 - 7 pm ESTArmy at Notre Dame (Neutral Venue)
Minnesota vs. Illinois Prediction
Beware the ranked underdog playing against an unranked favorite. I got this at Minnesota -2.5, but I’d still bet it at Minnesota -3.Â
Bet: Minnesota -3
Nov 23 - 3 pm ESTPenn State at Minnesota
Texas Tech vs. Iowa State Prediction
Texas Tech has lost consecutive games to Baylor and TCU. What’ll happen when the Red Raiders go on the road to play an actual top team in the conference? And off a bye no less?
Bet: Iowa State -14
Nov 23 - 7 pm ESTIowa St. at Utah
Kentucky vs. Tennessee Prediction
Kentucky is 1-18 outright and 5-14 ATS in Knoxville since 1986. That, plus the fact that the Cats have looked pretty dead for most of SEC play, does not inspire confidence here in the idea of a competitive game.
On the other hand, Tennessee hasn’t won by more than 10 points since its September bludgeoning of Chattanooga, NC State, and Kent State. Nico Iamaleava – once the Heisman odds favorite – now looks like a marginable SEC starter.
I’m avoiding the spread here and betting the total. These teams are a combined 10-5 to the under, and a lot of those overs came early in Tennessee’s offensive explosions. Those outcomes aren’t terribly relevant to the football being played currently.
Bet: Under 45.5
Nov 23 - 1 pm ESTUTEP at Tennessee
Pittsburgh vs. SMU Prediction
Pittsburgh might have extra rest here, but the Panthers are also 0-6 ATS as a road dog since the start of 2022. I like SMU here, and this is a case where I’m willing to buy the half-point if I can’t find it naturally in the market. I want the -7.
Bet: SMU -7
Nov 23 - 12 pm ESTSMU at Virginia
Virginia Tech vs. Syracuse Prediction
Virginia Tech has quietly looked like one of the three or four best teams in the ACC since late September. I came into this game pretty willing to lay anything short of a touchdown with the Hokies.
Bet: Virginia Tech -4
Nov 23 - 8 pm ESTVirginia Tech at Duke
