  • First pitch is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. ET at Yankee Stadium on ESPN.
  • My Brewers vs. Yankees prediction is that Milwaukee will win outright.

MLBโ€™s 14-game slate on opening day will begin with a nationally televised matchup between the Milwaukee Brewers and New York Yankees at 3:05 p.m. ET on Thursday, March 27, at Yankee Stadium. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.

The Yankees enter the 2025 season as American League favorites following last yearโ€™s World Series appearance, though they have dealt with more injuries than most this spring. Gerrit Cole, the teamโ€™s ace, is out for the year while recovering from Tommy John surgery.

Milwaukee hopes to continue surprising everyone this year. The Brewers arenโ€™t favored to win the National League Central, despite finishing atop the division in back-to-back years. They have made the playoffs six times over the last seven years.

Hereโ€™s a look at the latest MLB betting odds and my Brewers vs. Yankees prediction ahead of opening day.

Brewers vs. Yankees Opening Day Starting Pitchers

Freddy Peralta has been named the starting pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers on opening day. He beat the New York Mets in his first career opening day start last season.

Cole was in line to start for the Yankees, but the team hasnโ€™t announced his replacement. Max Fried, who signed a $218 million deal in the offseason, seems like the obvious candidate to take the mound for the Yankees to begin the 2025 campaign.

Brewers vs. Yankees Prediction for Opening Day

Based on the latest MLB odds, my Brewers vs. Yankees prediction is to take Milwaukeeโ€™s moneyline value (+145) on opening day.

Iโ€™m surprised the odds for this game didnโ€™t move following the news of Coleโ€™s injury, particularly considering how the market reacted with the Yankeesโ€™ futures odds.

The Yankees’ win total dropped to 88.5 after opening at 93.5 earlier in the offseason. Their World Series price went from +800 to +900, while their AL East odds climbed from +105 to +165.

In addition, New Yorkโ€™s odds to miss the playoffs went from +310 to +180.

The market indicates that the Yankees shouldnโ€™t be priced as the clear AL favorites.

Of course, the concern about the Yankees is their depth, which wonโ€™t matter as much in Game 1. But I also like backing Peralta at this +145 price tag.

Peralta spun a 3.68 ERA in 32 starts last year, striking out 200 batters in 173 2/3 innings. Heโ€™s moved back to the third-base side of the mound in hopes of regaining some extension in his delivery.

Peralta limited hitters to a 7.6% barrel rate over his final 10 starts last year, suggesting heโ€™s up to the challenge of holding down the Yankeesโ€™ lineup on opening day.
