The Los Angeles Dodgers have built a star-studded rotation ahead of the 2025 MLB season after landing Blake Snell and Roki Sasaki in the offseason. Shohei Ohtani is also expected to return to the mound after not pitching last year.

Suddenly, the Dodgersโ€™ rotation is the best in the league and could be among the best in baseball history.

But which pitcher will emerge as the top option on this staff? A new MLB odds market at the BetMGM online sportsbook helps answer that question.

Snell, a two-time Cy Young winner, opens as the betting favorite (+200) to lead the Dodgers in strikeouts during the 2025 MLB season.

After signing a five-year, $182 million deal with the Dodgers in November, Snell hopes to hit the ground running with his new team. He signed with the San Francisco Giants late last spring and struggled to get going in the first half of the season, finishing with 145 strikeouts in 104 innings.

Snell is two years removed from tossing a career-best 234 strikeouts during a Cy Young campaign with the San Diego Padres. The 180 innings in 2023 marked the second-highest of his career, trailing the 180 2/3 frames during his first Cy Young season with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2018.

And thatโ€™s what makes this betting market so interesting.

The Dodgers have a handful of pitchers with elite stuff, all capable of leading this team in strikeouts. However, the Dodgers will likely be careful with their pitchers, as none have a track record of logging a bunch of innings.

That plan works to help the Dodgers’ World Series odds after winning it all last year. But it makes this market extremely volatile.

Who Will Lead the Dodgers in Strikeouts for 2025?

Based on the latest MLB betting market and projections, my pick to lead the Dodgers in strikeouts during the 2025 season is Blake Snell (+200) due to his track record compared to the rest of the rotation.

Snell has the upper hand as the betting favorite because every other pitcher comes with more question marks.

  • Ohtani is unlikely to be ready to pitch by opening day.ย
  • Glasnow is coming off a career-best campaign in innings (134).
  • Yamamoto posted a 28.5% strikeout rate in his debut season.
  • Sasaki will be a rookie this year.

Meanwhile, Snell is coming off a career-best campaign in strikeout rate (34.7%) and has a better resume regarding volume. Ohtani (166 IP in 2022) is the only other Los Angeles starter to log more than 135 innings in a season.

Projections give Snell a decent edge in this market, much more than the +200 odds would indicate. I wouldnโ€™t be surprised to see this line move in his favor in the coming weeks.

Prediction: Blake Snell (+200)
