In Major League Baseball, the rich usually get richer. Less than a week after finalizing the new Shohei Ohtani contract, the Los Angeles Dodgers inked former Rays pitcher Tyler Glasnow to a big new contract worth more than $100 million.

The new deal comes as part of a four-player trade with Tampa Bay.

Tyler Glasnow Contract

On Dec. 15, 2023, Tyler Glasnow signed a new contract extension with the Dodgers that’s effectively a five-year deal worth $136,562,500. The terms of the contract are fully guaranteed.

Tyler Glasnow Salary

Tyler Glasnow will draw a $15 million base salary in 2024, his first year with the Dodgers. Technically, this is leftover money from his last contract. (More on that in a second.)

Starting in 2025, Glasnow’s base salary swells to $30 million per year.

Glasnow’s annualized salary is $27,312,500.

Tyler Glasnow Extension

Tyler Glasnow was still under contract for 2024, which is why the Rays could trade him instead of just losing him in free agency. Technically, this new Dodgers deal is a contract extension.

The previous contract details called for a $25 million salary in 2024. His new extension with the Dodgers restructures that money into a $10 million signing bonus on top of a $15 million base salary.

Tyler Glasnow Option (2028)

Tyler Glasnow’s new contract includes a team option for the fifth year in 2028. If the Dodgers elect to pick up the option, he will continue to make $30 million in base salary for his final year.

If the Dodgers forgo the team option, it’s converted into a player option worth $21,562,500.
