Nuggets vs. Timberwolves: Prediction, Odds, Bets For Game 7

It all comes down to this. Game 7 of the Nuggets vs. Timberwolves series will be played on Sunday, and the winner will become the favorite to win the West and advance to the NBA Finals.

With the fate of both teams hanging in the balance, this series has had an outsized effect on the NBA odds market.

I am predicting Over 197.5 points will be scored in Sunday’s Game 7 of the Timberwolves vs. Nuggets series. 

I can’t remember the last time I was so unsure about the outcome of a major NBA playoff game. This series has felt completely over two different times. As it happens, both times I have been completely wrong. 

Denver felt totally checkmated after Game 2. Three games later, the Nuggets were leading the series.

Minnesota felt like they had utterly neutralized after Game 5. Just 48 hours later, they had forced a Game 7, devastating the Nuggets with a 45-point win in Game 6. 

If I had to bet a side here, I’ll take Minnesota to cover the 4.5-point spread with a win or a tight loss.

However, the strongest betting option actually feels like a contrarian over on this total that has sunk below 200 points.

Traditionally, Game 7 unders are some of the best bets you can take in the NBA playoffs. But this series, which is loaded with incredible scorers, has consistently produced game outcomes that have fallen between 200 and 210 points. The only real exception is Game 6, where the entire Nuggets offense failed to show up. They connected on fewer than 20% of their 3-pointers. Denver head coach Mike Malone dumped the bench in the second half. 

On the heels of a game with only 185 points, you can bet that many handicappers will be looking to play the under here. But this series, which has consistently produced high-level offense and quite a few free throws, could easily produce a Game 7 over. I’d rather bet on that than try to predict the final outcome of an utterly unpredictable series.
