  • The Phoenix Suns won 49 games in 2023-24.
  • Phoenixโ€™s win total has dropped to 47.5 this season.

The Phoenix Suns are still searching for their first championship after losing in the opening round following a 49-33 campaign last year.

NBA futures odds are available at the online sportsbook, including Phoenix Suns odds for NBA champion, division winner, and player awards.

Suns Futures Odds

Win Total: 47.5
Pacific Division: +180
Western Conference: +1200
NBA Championship: +2000

After consecutive second-place finishes in the Pacific Division, the Suns are NBA odds favorites to win the division. They have a +180 price at this point in the preseason after being +260 in the summer.

The market has been betting Phoenix this offseason. The Suns are +2000 to win the title and +1200 to win the West. They were +3500 and +1600, respectively, a month ago.

The Sunsโ€™ win total is four games below last yearโ€™s mark. It is the first time the Suns havenโ€™t had a win total in the 50s since 2020-21 when they won 51 games to clear a preseason over/under of 38.5.

Suns Offseason Moves

After replacing Frank Vogel with Mike Budenholzer as head coach, the Suns have spent much of the offseason improving their depth.

The Suns are limited in what they can do to improve their roster because of their Big Three at the top. But they added some depth behind Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal.

Tyus Jones is a massive bargain after signing a one-year, $3,003,427 contract. Jones averaged 12 points and 7.3 assists per game for the Washington Wizards last year.

Budenholzer posted a 271-120 record in five seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks from 2019-23. The Suns hope the coaching change can propel this team to a deeper playoff run, as they havenโ€™t made it past the second round since their NBA Finals appearance in 2021.

Suns 2024 Betting Prediction

Prediction:ย Mike Budenholzer to Win Coach of the Year (+2500)

My prediction earlier this offseason was on the Suns’ division price of +260. But I no longer see value in their current +140 odds.

The best way to bet on Phoenix’s upside is by betting on Budenholzer as a NBA Coach of the Year odds sleeper.

Budenholzer won Coach of the Year in 2018-19, leading the Milwaukee Bucks to a 60-22 record and a No. 1 seed in the East. The Bucks had a preseason win total of 48 that year after winning 44 games in the previous campaign.

I could see a similar jump in Phoenix this year, especially since Budenholzer will improve the Suns’ shot diet on offense.

They were second in the league with an average of 11.2 field goal attempts per game between 10 and 14 feet. Phoenix was 25th in 3-point attempts per contest.

Phoenix’s ceiling outcome will be determined by the health of its superstars. But the market has clearly come around on this team as a contender, and this awards future might be the best way to bet on just that.
