No, it’s not football season. No. 1 Auburn and No. 2 Alabama will square off on the hardwood to determine which proud football program is the best basketball team in the country.
The top-ranked Tigers (22-2, 10-1 SEC) have only lost one game since early December, so they enter this weekend as national championship favorites. But the Crimson Tide (21-3, 10-1) come into this battle with plenty of momentum, having won seven straight games.
The tip-off for this rivalry matchup is at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday at Coleman Coliseum on ESPN.

While odds for this matchup aren’t yet available at the BetMGM online sportsbook, KenPom projects an 88-86 victory for the Tigers. That would make Auburn a two-point road favorite with an over/under of 174.
I’ll use this projection as a guideline for what to expect when the market is released.
Auburn vs. Alabama Prediction – Saturday, Feb. 15
Based on KenPom’s projection, my Auburn vs. Alabama college basketball prediction would be to take the points with the Crimson Tide in what should be an electric atmosphere on Saturday.
The Crimson Tide faithful will have the place rocking. The winner of this game has the inside track to the SEC regular-season title and will be ranked No. 1 next week.
I’m not sure if Auburn will open as a short favorite, but I’d be happy to back Alabama at this number. EvanMiya, another analytical model for college basketball, projects the Crimson Tide as 1.7-point favorites at home.
Alabama enters this matchup playing as well as any team in the country. The Crimson Tide rank No. 1 in adjusted offensive efficiency during their seven-game win streak and are No. 2 on the year, suggesting they can keep pace with Auburn’s No. 1 offense.
Auburn lost to Florida at home last weekend. I’ll take the points with the hotter team in this rivalry matchup.
